One of us has loved birds her whole life. The other needed a reason to go outside.
Turns out "let's go photograph birds" is a pretty good reason. Bean drags Lemon out whenever life allows, and Lemon drags Bean away from every interesting stick on the ground. It's a balanced system.
We're not professionals — just two people with good cameras, a shared love of early mornings, and an ongoing disagreement about whether picking up sticks counts as "connecting with nature" or "littering in reverse."

Between a memory card and a tidy grid of thumbnails lives a whole lot of renaming, tiling, and uploading — the part of birding nobody writes poetry about. Beantools handles that pipeline — a free, open-source helper we made for this very site.
So yes, the sticks still get debated by hand. The filenames? Mercifully not.
